Very honoured to have the opportunity to run a workshop Darn for Yarn at the Great Get Together on the 23rd July 2022. The event held at Queen Elizabeth Park, Stratford celebrates the the 10 year legacy of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
My community workshop invited members of the public to embroider or sew on a patch, on to my knitted patchwork made from recycled jumpers. The session aimed to highlight the beauty of repair and potential of recycled garments, while helping to reduce textile waste.
The workshop forms part of a project which will see the 20 trees at the International Quarter London covered with knitted sleeves. The project is scheduled to launch in October 2022, and will be on display until March 2023.
